Gujarat Titans’ captain calls for improvement following IPL defeat.
After a massive 99-run defeat at the hands of the Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill didn’t hold back. He pointed fingers squarely at his bowlers, lamenting, "Honestly, I think we gave away too many runs in the middle overs." Gill’s critique came after MI posted a formidable 199, thanks to a stunning century from Tilak Varma.
The Titans crumbled to just 100 runs, with Ahswini Kumar tearing through their batting line-up like a hot knife through butter, ending with four wickets at an economy of 6.00. Gill acknowledged the challenge posed by the pitch but emphasised the need for his bowlers to find their lengths better. "On a wicket like that, I think 160-170 was a par score," he added, highlighting the stark contrast between the two teams’ performances.
The match wasn’t just a wake-up call; it was a reality check. MI’s bowlers executed their plans to perfection, while GT’s attack left much to be desired. With a couple of away games coming up, Gill is hopeful for a turnaround. Can the Titans regroup and bounce back? Only time will tell!
