Is constant tinkering ruining Lucknow's chances this IPL season?
Zaheer Khan is not holding back after Lucknow Super Giants' baffling batting decisions in their recent match against Punjab Kings. Chasing a massive 255 runs, LSG's management decided to switch things up by sending Ayush Badoni to open with Mitchell Marsh while Aiden Markram dropped to No. 5. This marked the second time Markram has been moved down the order this season, sparking serious questions about LSG's strategy.
Zaheer slammed the constant reshuffling, stating it’s compromising the batting unit's potential. "You can’t have different openers throughout the season; that won't set the tone right," he said, emphasising the need for stability at the top. With Markram already shuffled around to multiple positions, Zaheer believes LSG's management is looking "a little clueless" about their resources.
In the end, LSG could only muster 200 runs, falling short by 54 runs. While Badoni showed promise with 35 off 21 balls, the team’s reliance on a rotating door of openers could be their downfall. With Lucknow sitting at No. 8 on the table, can they find the right balance before it’s too late?
