New Zealand A's opener shines with bat in first-class showdown.
Tim Robinson has set the cricketing world buzzing with his career-best score of 130 against Sri Lanka A. Batting at No. 3, the T20I opener not only improved on his previous first-class high of 108 but also anchored New Zealand A's innings, helping them surpass Sri Lanka A's total of 381. Partnering with Curtis Heaphy, who also scored a century, the duo added a staggering 218 runs for the second wicket, showcasing their dominance on day three.
Sri Lanka A initially had a strong start, with openers Lahiru Udara and Nishan Madushka putting together a solid 46-run partnership. However, after a mini-collapse, they were struggling at 192-5. A gritty century from Sonal Dinusha, his 11th in first-class cricket, pulled them past 300, but it wasn’t enough to keep New Zealand A at bay.
As the match unfolds in Hambantota, New Zealand A seems to be in a commanding position, thanks to Robinson and Heaphy’s efforts. Robinson's ton is a reminder of his potential as he aims to make a name for himself beyond T20s. With the second four-day match set to kick off on April 23 in Galle, cricket fans are eagerly anticipating more fireworks from this exciting New Zealand A side!
