Critics are questioning Hardik's leadership as MI flounders in IPL 2026.
It's not a great time to be a Mumbai Indians fan, and former India opener Sadagoppan Ramesh is here to stir the pot. Ahead of the clash against Lucknow Super Giants, Ramesh has thrown some serious shade at Hardik Pandya, claiming he’s not stepping up when it counts. Instead of leading from the front, Ramesh says Hardik is more interested in watching others sort out the mess. This is a classic case of captaincy under the spotlight.
Ramesh's criticisms don’t stop there. He pointed out that while Suryakumar Yadav is under fire for his batting woes, Hardik's contributions are lacklustre across the board. With MI sitting precariously at No. 9, the pressure is mounting. According to Ramesh, Hardik’s poor strategy in using bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult effectively is a massive oversight. It's a tough gig when your captain seems to be hiding instead of leading.
If Hardik wants to turn this ship around, he needs to channel that World Cup-winning mentality he showcased under Rohit Sharma. Ramesh emphasized that a true leader should be the one stepping up in crises, not waiting for others to fix the problems. MI fans will be praying he finds that form soon, or this season could slip away completely.
