Lucknow Super Giants' stars under fire as playoffs slip away.
Simon Doull didn't hold back after Lucknow Super Giants' latest IPL struggles. He blasted Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran as ‘₹50 crore frauds’, highlighting the franchise's massive investment that’s yielded only one win so far. With the Super Giants languishing in ninth place, their playoff hopes are fading faster than a slow bouncer.
Doull’s critique was sharp. He pointed out that despite the hefty ₹27 crore price tag on Pant and ₹21 crore for Pooran, they’ve collectively contributed to one measly victory. Pooran’s form has been particularly woeful, averaging just 8.50 with a strike rate of 79.68. Ouch! With a lineup overloaded with overseas talent and struggling Indian batters, Doull argues their strategy is fundamentally flawed.
The franchise has been fumbling with their batting order, trying various combinations, even promoting Ayush Badoni to open in a desperate bid for form. Doull believes such drastic changes reflect a lack of confidence. He warns that relying on an overseas-heavy lineup isn’t the way to go, especially when successful teams are built on strong local talent.
As the IPL heats up, the Super Giants need to find solutions fast. Can they turn their fortunes around and make a late playoff push?
