In a cheeky pick, Sharma crowns MS Dhoni as the IPL’s best wicketkeeper.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Jitesh Sharma has stirred the pot by naming MS Dhoni the greatest wicketkeeper in IPL history. During a playful chat with Cricbuzz, he played a 'winner stays on' game, starting with a choice between Wriddhiman Saha and Parthiv Patel. Saha, a two-time champion, nearly bagged the nod, but in the end, Sharma opted for the RR captain, Sanju Samson, who’s made waves with his performances.
Sharma’s journey through the ranks didn’t stop there. He picked Samson over Quinton de Kock but ultimately gave the crown to Adam Gilchrist, the Deccan Chargers’ 2009 IPL-winning captain. Gilchrist’s explosive style has left a lasting legacy, even as Sharma acknowledged Dinesh Karthik’s brilliance, choosing him over the Aussie legend. But when it came down to it, it was Dhoni who took the cake, solidifying his status with five IPL trophies and a reputation for clutch performances.
However, it’s worth noting that Jitesh's own IPL 2026 form has been a bit of a damp squib, with just 63 runs in 9 matches. RCB, currently second on the points table, will be hoping he finds his groove soon as they face the Lucknow Super Giants on May 7. Can Jitesh turn the tide in his favour?
