Jude Bellingham is stepping off the football pitch and into the cricketing spotlight, having just acquired a 1.2% stake in Birmingham Phoenix. The England and Real Madrid star has a history with the sport, having played cricket as a teenager at Hagley Cricket Club in Birmingham. This move marks his entry into franchise ownership, with Warwickshire County Cricket Club set to announce the deal officially soon.
The Phoenix franchise has seen some changes recently, with Knighthead Capital purchasing a 49% stake last year, leaving Warwickshire with a controlling 51%. Bellingham's investment, valued at around £1 million, now gives him a stake split between Warwickshire and Knighthead Capital, which means the club now holds 50.4% and Knighthead 48.4%.
Despite the franchise's five-year history, Birmingham Phoenix hasn't clinched a title yet.
