Kris Srikkanth’s cheeky take after MI’s stunning comeback against GT!
Kris Srikkanth doesn’t hold back when it comes to critiquing Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. After the Mumbai Indians (MI) romped to a 99-run victory over the Gujarat Titans, Srikkanth made it clear that MI is better off without the struggling seamers. He quipped on his Cheeky Cheeka podcast that MI would be telling them, ‘Just go take your seats in the shed and do not come out again.’ Ouch!
The stats back him up! Thakur, once a promising pick, has spiraled down with an alarming economy rate above 13.5, while Chahar has been even worse, managing just one wicket and leaking runs at nearly 15 per over. Their form has been more of a liability than an asset, prompting MI to make the bold move of dropping them for the clash against GT.
Enter young guns Ashwani Kumar and Krish Bhagat, who made their presence felt with disciplined bowling. Kumar took four wickets for just 24 runs, while Bhagat was equally impressive, conceding only 10 runs in two overs. Srikkanth praised their lengths as ‘sheer Test match level discipline,’ proving that MI might just have found their winning formula.
With Jasprit Bumrah also firing on all cylinders, MI fans can finally breathe easy. The team is on the up, and the young bowlers are turning the tide. Can MI keep this momentum going in the upcoming matches?
