The former cricketer pulls no punches on his political exit after state poll results.
Manoj Tiwary, once a rising star in both cricket and politics, has dropped a bombshell. After the recent West Bengal election results, where the BJP ousted the TMC, Tiwary declared his chapter with the TMC is over. Why? Because he refused to cough up ₹5 crore for an MLA ticket. That’s right, he’s calling out the party for its shady practices and lack of development.
In a candid interview, Tiwary didn't hold back. He revealed that around 70 candidates paid the hefty sum for their tickets, while he opted to stand by his principles. "Only those who could pay hefty amounts could buy tickets," he asserted, pointing to a systemic issue within the party. For Tiwary, it’s not just about the money; it’s about the corruption that he believes has plagued the TMC.
Reflecting on his political journey, Tiwary recalled how he was initially hesitant to enter politics but decided to run for the Shibpur seat in 2021. However, his experiences have been less than encouraging. He described a lack of internal democracy and a dismissive attitude from party leaders, especially when he tried to raise issues affecting his constituency.
Now, with Tiwary distancing himself from the TMC, one has to wonder: What’s next for this former cricketer turned politician? Only time will tell, but it seems his future is wide open now that he’s broken free from the political baggage.
