Rishabh Pant's Batters Come Up Short in Thrilling Loss to MI

Pant believes LSG needed more runs after record-breaking innings at Wankhede.

In a nail-biter at Wankhede on May 4, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) put up a massive total of 228 runs, but it wasn’t enough to conquer the Mumbai Indians (MI). Despite a blistering start, LSG’s batters couldn’t seal the deal, leaving captain Rishabh Pant fuming for more runs on the board. With standout performances from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, who combined for 11 sixes, it looked like a dominant display.

However, MI's response was nothing short of sensational. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma carved out a colossal 143-run opening partnership, leading the charge as MI chased down the target comfortably. Pant lamented the missed opportunity, stating that LSG fell short by 10-15 runs on a pitch ripe for big scores. His frustrations were clear, but he acknowledged the bowlers' efforts, saying they did well despite the circumstances.

As the IPL heats up, Pant’s side will need to channel their batting firepower into more consistent performances if they hope to stay in the race. Could luck be the missing ingredient for LSG?
