After LSG's disastrous run, Tiwary questions Pant's captaincy and tactics.
Rishabh Pant is in the firing line, and it’s not looking good for the Lucknow Super Giants. Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has called out Pant’s questionable decision-making as LSG languishes at the bottom of the IPL 2026 table. With seven losses, including six in a row, Pant's captaincy is under scrutiny, especially after a recent defeat despite posting a hefty 228 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Tiwary didn't hold back, saying, "Pant is also losing out on tactical moves." He pointed out that while young Prince Yadav bowled brilliantly, Pant failed to instruct the rest of the bowlers to adopt a similar strategy. Instead of capitalising on Yadav’s success with yorkers, Pant's inaction allowed the opposition to score freely, raising serious questions about his leadership skills.
Adding fuel to the fire, Tiwary highlighted Arjun Tendulkar's absence from the playing XI, suggesting that Pant missed an opportunity to include someone who could execute those crucial yorkers. "I saw videos of Arjun bowling yorkers in the nets. Pant could have brought him in," Tiwary remarked, contrasting Pant’s captaincy style with that of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma.
As if that wasn't enough, Pant himself acknowledged his poor form, admitting it has affected the team's performance. Coming in at a critical moment, he managed just 15 runs off 10 balls, leaving fans to wonder if he can turn this ship around before it sinks completely.
